Non-linear methods for computer-assisted compositions
A six-hours intensive workshop on different strategies to create non-linear sound compositions using MAX/MSP. The workshop begins by unpacking the methodology from a theoretical standpoint, including discussing the application of Markov chains in composition. The participants then, using sound files they bring in themselves and a series of modules created and provided by Gil, compose a piece as a set of discrete independent events, along with a table of probabilities that dictates the different routes the composition may travel. The workshop will end with the participants unique compositions.
Back in June, 2015, during an interaction of the workshop at Hangar (Barcelona, Spain), Gil was briefly interviewed by Barcelona TV. Check out the video here.
